Hugh Jackman signs up for Peter Pan movie

Actor will play Blackbeard in live-action film

Hugh Jackman has signed up to take part in a new film version of Peter Pan, according to reports.

Total Film says that Jackman has agreed to play the pirate Blackbeard in the upcoming live-action film, which is being developed by Warner Bros. Friday Night Lights actor Garrett Hedlund will take on the role of Captain Hook in the movie, meanwhile, which will be helmed by filmmaker Joe Wright and is set for release in July 2015.

Jackman will next be seen reprising his role as Wolverine in X-Men: Days Of Future Past. He is part of a massive cast featuring nearly every familiar face from the previous five X-Men movies, with Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart all set to appear, in addition to Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage and Ellen Page.

An official synopsis for the film was previously released, stating: “The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-Men: Days Of Future Past. The beloved characters from the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class in an epic battle that must change the past – to save our future.”

X-Men: Days Of Future Past opens in UK cinemas on May 22, 2014 and a day later on May 23, 2014 in the US.
