Idris Elba wants role in ‘The Inbetweeners Movie 2’, Anthony Head says

Comedy sequel has recently been confirmed and will arrive in cinemas next August (2014)

Luther star Idris Elba wants a role The Inbetweeners Movie 2, according to Anthony Head.

Head played the father of Simon Bird’s character Will in 2011’s The Inbetweeners Movie and his daughter Emily Head appears in the E4 sitcom as Carli, the unrequited love interest of Joe Thomas’s Simon. The Inbetweeners Movie 2 has recently been confirmed by the show’s creators and will arrive in UK cinemas next August (2014).

Discussing the sequel on this week’s Empire podcast, Anthony Head said: “I was at a gig with Idris Elba recently and he says he’ll do anything in it. He said he’d do a walk-on, so I’ve got to email them and say: ‘Idris Elba wants to be in it.'”

Asked whether he will be reprising his role as Will’s father, Head replied: “I haven’t heard anything and I don’t even know what the storyline is.” However, he admitted he would be keen to return.

Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison will all be returning following the remarkable success of 2011’s The Inbetweeners Movie, which became the highest-grossing comedy film in UK box office history with takings of £45 million. The Inbetweeners originally ran for three series on E4 between 2008 and 2010, and was voted Best TV Show at the NME Awards in 2010. A US remake aired on MTV last year (2012) but got the axe after just one season.
