Watch an explosive two-minute teaser for Robert Downey Jr's latest adventure as Tony Stark

The first trailer for Iron Man 3 has been unveiled by Marvel – scroll down to watch it.

The explosive two-minute teaser features plenty of Robert Downey Jr‘s hero Tony Stark, as well as a glimpse of the sequel’s main villain, a mysterious character called The Mandarin played by Ben Kingsley. Fellow cast members Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Guy Pearce also appear.

Iron Man 3 began shooting in North Carolina this June (2012). It will be Downey Jr’s fourth outing as Tony Stark, a billionaire inventor who creates a powered suit of armour and turns himself into a superhero. The actor previously played Stark in 2008’s Iron Man, 2010’s Iron Man 2 and 2012’s The Avengers.

Earlier this month (October 2012), an official plot synopsis was released. It revealed that Stark will face “an enemy whose reach knows no bounds”, while also promising an “answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?”

Back in August (2012), Downey Jr injured his ankle while shooting a stunt, causing Marvel to postpone production for around six weeks. However, filming resumed on October 1, and the sequel is still on course for its April 2013 release.
