Is ‘Harry Potter’ coming to Netflix in the UK?

Is the boy wizard coming to the world of streaming?

Bad news, muggles. Netflix has confirmed that the Harry Potter films won’t be available to stream in the UK.

Potterheads were extremely excited last week when Netflix’s Twitter account for France & Belgium announced that all eight films will available from November 1.

“C’est magnifique”, they wrote alongside a brief clip of John Williams’ iconic score.

But while it led to inevitable speculation and excitement that the UK could be next in line for a slice of magic, Netflix has thrown cold water over the idea.

“This is with regards to the French service I’m afraid – they’re not going to be available on Netflix UK”, a Netflix spokesperson told Shortlist.

It’s not all bad news though. Ardent UK fans can get their latest Potter fix when Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald hits cinemas next month. The second Fantastic Beasts movie catches up with Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander once more as he battles dark forces in Paris.

It also sees the full arrival of Johnny Depp as the titular villain, as well as a hugely anticipated turn from Jude Law as a young Albus Dumbledore.

The final trailer for the film arrived in September and it also included a huge surprise.

At the end of the trailer, the identity of Claudia Kim’s character is revealed as Nagini. As all seasoned Potter fans know, Nagini eventually becomes Voldemort’s future companion – as well as an important Horcrux.
