He's not dead
Siri has reportedly been telling users that comic book legend Stan Lee has died – but he hasn’t.
As Cinemablend reports, when asked ‘how old is Stan Lee?’ Apple’s digital assistant would reply: “Stan Lee died July 2, 2018, at age 95″. See footage of the app’s mistake below.
However, while the Marvel comic book legend has suffered a bout of ill health recently including a battle with pneumonia, Lee remains alive at the time of publishing. Apple have since corrected the mistake.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Lee is seeking more than $1billion in damages from his former company POW! Entertainment – claiming that he was tricked into signing a deal that saw him give away rights to use his name and likeness.
He alleges that POW! co-founder Gill Champion and CEO Shane Duffy brokered a “sham deal” to sell off the company to Camsing, of which Duffy is also Vice President. His lawsuit argues that POW were trying “to fraudulently steal Lee’s identity, name, image and likeness as part of a nefarious scheme to benefit financially at [his] expense” – following his “devastating” decline in health due to macular degeneration. They deny any wrongdoing.
As his health deteriorates, writer and director Kevin Smith recently invited comic book icon Stan Lee to come and live with him.
“We love you,” he Tweeted. “You are always welcome to come live with me — or please let us fans buy you a new place to live. We miss you, sir.”
Meanwhile, Lee was also recently accused of groping nurses in his Hollywood Hills home. It was alleged that he had been walking around naked, asking nurses for oral sex and wanting to be “pleasured”.
Lee’s lawyer denied the claims, characterising the allegations as extortion and blackmail.
