J.K. Rowling reveals that she is working on trilogy of ‘Fantastic Beasts’ films

First 'Harry Potter' spin-off is expected later this year

JK Rowling will make three films in her Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them.

The author let the information be known while responding to rumours that Harry Potter stage play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, would also be turned into a film. She said that the stage play will remain off screen but that fans can expect plenty from the Fantastic Beasts series.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is set in New York City, 70 years before the events of Harry Potter, and follows Newt Scamander, the ‘author’ of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, which decades later becomes one of Harry’s schoolbooks at Hogwarts. He will be played by Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne.

Warner Bros previously claimed that the film will be the first in a planned trilogy to be released in 2016, 2018 and 2020.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, which will mark Rowling’s screenwriting debut, is scheduled for release in cinemas on November 18, 2016.
