Jake Gyllenhaal in talks to join ‘The Way, Way Back’

'Source Code' star is being tipped for emotional new drama

Jake Gyllenhall has entered talks to star in new drama The Way, Way Back.

The Source Code star is being courted for the project by the writing team of forthcoming George Clooney vehicle The Descendents, according to Indie Wire.

Nat Faxon and Jim Rash have written the script and are attached to direct, and are now said to be courting Gyllenhaal, with production by Shawn Levy.

The emotional story centres on a teenage boy who develops a strong friendship over one extraordinary summer that gives him the strength to stand up to his domineering father and reconnect with his mother. Details of the role Gyllenhaal is in the frame for are as yet unknown, but it has been suggested that he will be cast against type as the bullying stepfather.

Gyllenhaal can next be seen in police drama End Of Watch. Watch a clip of him as Captain Colter Stephens in Duncan Jones‘ sci-fi hit Source Code at the bottom of the page.
