James McAvoy stars in new NSFW ‘Filth’ trailer – watch

'Trance' actor plays Bruce Robertson in Irvine Welsh big-screen adaptation

James McAvoy stars in a new NSFW (Not Safe For Work) trailer for Filth.

The 2-and-a-half minute trailer is packed with debauchery, with the film’s stars taking drugs, drinking heavily and having kinky sex. You can watch the graphic promo by scrolling down the page and clicking ‘play’.

Filth features McAvoy as author Irvine Welsh’s memorable anti-hero Bruce Robertson, a misanthropic police officer with a coke habit and a dubious attitude towards women. The film follows his bid to secure a promotion by sabotaging a rival officer played by Jamie Bell.

The cast also includes Jim Broadbent, Imogen Poots, Eddie Marsan and Joanne Froggatt. Scottish filmmaker Jon S Baird directed from his own script adapted from Welsh’s novel.

Published in 1998, Filth was the third novel from the always provocative Welsh. His debut novel Trainspotting was famously turned into an acclaimed 1996 film starring Ewan McGregor and director Danny Boyle has recently confirmed he is working on a sequel based on Welsh’s follow-up novel Porno.
