Jared Leto to return to acting following ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ Oscar win

Actor took break from industry to focus on his band, 30 Seconds To Mars

Jared Leto has confirmed he is looking at scripts for new movies following his Oscar-winning performance in Dallas Buyers Club.

Leto previously took a five-year break from acting prior to his critically acclaimed role as transsexual Rayvon in the film, focusing instead on his band, 30 Seconds To Mars. However, speaking to the AP, the musician and actor says he is not only keen to star in more films he also wants to direct too.

“I’m looking at scripts and reading scripts,” Leto said. “Which is interesting because I didn’t read scripts for years before Dallas Buyers Club. “But now you have opportunities to work with people that you really respect or admire, people whose work has been inspiring and influential.”

On the subject of directing, Leto added: “I think that would be really great. And when I have the right story to tell I’ll certainly do that.”

Jared Leto picked up the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Dallas Buyers Club. His previous films include Requiem For A Dream and American Psycho.
