"That's my only way of defending myself," she says
Jennifer Lawrence has discussed being approached by fans in public during an interview with Adam Sandler, saying that she becomes “incredibly rude” and turns into “a huge asshole”.
Lawrence and Sandler recently talked as part of Variety’s ‘Actors on Actors’ joint interview series. During the chat, they addressed the subject of fans encroaching on their privacy.
“Once I enter a public place, I become incredibly rude,” Lawrence said. “I turn into a huge asshole. That’s my only way of defending myself.”
She went on to reveal that she turns people away from her table and refuses selfie requests, telling people that it’s “her day off”: “I say, ‘It’s Sunday, I’m not working today.'”
Lawrence also described how things are harder for comedians because everyone “assumes they’re your best friend,” adding that she’s “fucked” when she walks through a park with Amy Schumer.
Sandler spoke of his own fan encounters, saying: “When I’m out eating, people do pull up a chair”.
“I sit them down, I feed them, I let them hang out with my kids,” he joked. “My life’s nearing the end. I want to meet as many people as I can.”
Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence recently spoke about the trauma of having nude photos of herself leaked online without her consent, describing the incident as “unbelievably violating”.
Speaking on The Hollywood Reporter‘s Awards Chatter podcast recently, the star said: “I feel like I got gang-banged by the fucking planet”.
