"I got through about three minutes."
Jennifer Lawrence has admitted that she only watched three minutes of Phantom Thread, before giving up on the Oscar nominated drama.
Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the acclaimed drama sees Daniel Day Lewis providing his final big screen turn in the role of Reynolds Woodcock, a notoriously volatile dressmaker in 1950s Britain.
But it seems that the film did little to capture the imagination of Lawrence, who revealed that she refused to watch the entire film.
Appearing on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, she said: “”I got through about three minutes. “I put in a good solid three… I’m sorry to anybody who loved that movie”
She explained: “It was three minutes and I was just like oof… I mean, is it just about clothes?.
“Is [Day-Lewis’s character] kind of like a narcissistic sociopath and he’s like an artist so every girl falls in love with him because he makes her feel bad about herself and that’s the love story?
“I’ve been down that road, I know what that’s like, I don’t need to watch that movie.”
Lawrence, who won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook, will next be seen in Red Sparrow, which hits cinemas this Friday.
The film sees Lawrence star Dominika Egorova, a Russian spy who creates a tangled web after she falls for a CIA spy played by Joel Edgerton.
