Blockbuster film franchise is due to end with this year's 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2'
Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that she would “totally do” more Hunger Games movies.
The actress, who plays Katniss, has almost finished shooting The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, the second film based on Suzanne Collins’s final Hunger Games novel, which is due to bring the blockbuster film series to a close.
However, director Francis Lawrence – behind the camera for three of the four movies – recently suggested that the franchise could be expanded to continue beyond Mockingjay – and now Lawrence has admitted she is finding it hard to say goodbye to Katniss and The Hunger Games.
Asked about the end of the franchise by The Theory of Everything‘s Eddie Redmayne during a head-to-head in Interview magazine, Lawrence replied: “I’m not happy about it at all.”
When Redmayne speculated that a new Hunger Games movie could always be written, Lawrence replied: “I know, right? I would totally do it.”
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 opened in cinemas last November and went on to take over $705 million (£465 million) at the box office worldwide. Mockingjay – Part 2 is due to follow on November 20 this year.
