JK Rowling announces she’s started writing the screenplay for ‘Fantastic Beasts 3’

Second movie is due out in November

J.K. Rowling has announced she is already writing the screenplay for Fantastic Beasts 3.

The Harry Potter novelist revealed her latest plans ahead of the release of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, which is due out in November this year.

Speaking in a Q&A on her official website, when asked what she is writing now, Rowling replied: “’I’ve just finished the fourth Galbraith novel, Lethal White, and I’m now writing the screenplay for Fantastic Beasts 3. After that I’ll be writing another book for children. I’ve been playing with the (non-Harry Potter/wizarding world) story for about six years, so it’s about time I get it down on paper.”

No further details were given about the screenplay.

The second film recently courted controversy after Johnny Depp was cast for a major role.

Depp’s villainous character Gellert Grindelwald was introduced at the end of the first movie. Fans expressed their anger at Depp being cast for the second movie, with some threatening to boycott the movie.

According to a plot synopsis, in the second movie, “Grindelwald has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause — elevating wizards above all non-magical beings.

The adventure also “reunites Newt with Tina (Katherine Waterston), Queenie (Alison Sudol) and Jacob (Dan Fogler), but his mission will also test their loyalties as they face new perils in an increasingly dangerous and divided wizarding world”.
