JK Rowling completes script for first ‘Harry Potter’ spin-off film ‘Fantastic Beasts’

'Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them' is scheduled for release in cinemas on November 18, 2016

JK Rowling has completed the script for her first Harry Potter spin-off film, the franchise’s producer has revealed.

Titled Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, the spin-off is set in New York City, 70 years before the events of Harry Potter, and follows Newt Scamander, the ‘author’ of Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, which decades later becomes one of Harry’s schoolbooks at Hogwarts. Warner Bros has recently confirmed that the film will be the first in a planned trilogy to be released in 2016, 2018 and 2020.

“Jo [JK Rowling] has written a wonderful script,” producer David Heyman said at the premiere of his latest film, Paddington. “It’s early stages. David Yates is directing and we start filming next year. I’m just really excited about it.”
