Joe Cornish linked to ‘Die Hard 5’

Brit director added to shortlist

Director, writer, and radio presenter, Joe Cornish, has made it onto a shortlist of names to direct Die Hard 5.

Only yesterday (August 1), news emerged that director John Moore was the frontrunner for the position, but now it seems Fox are putting four eggs into four separate baskets.

According to Deadline, the list includes Justin Lin (Fast and Furious), Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive), John Moore (Max Payne) and now the taller half of The Adam and Joe Show, Joe Cornish.

Cornish‘s debut feature, Attack the Block, was released in the US on Friday and gathered an impressive $137,580 from just eight screens.

The film, about an alien invasion on a London council estate, also gained some equally impressive reviews, with Rolling Stone calling it ”hot, fierce, funny, vicious and ready to bite”. USA Today described it as an “edgy, street version of Super 8”.

Yesterday it was also announced that the fifth Die Hard, to be scripted by Skip Woods, would see John McClane heading to Russia.

Joe Cornish will next be in cinemas as the writer of The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn for Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson.
