'Pulp Fiction' actor and action legend add to all-star cast
John Travolta and Chuck Norris are reported to be joining Sylvester Stallone and company for the sequel to the hit action film, The Expendables.
The two stars will join a hugely impressive cast of action greats, including Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, for the sequel, to be directed by Con Air‘s Simon West.
In an interview with Novantine about the film, due to start shooting September, studio head David Varod reeled off the names attached:
Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, John Travolta, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke…who else? Of course, Bruce Willis.
The first Expendables film, written and directed by Sylvester Stallone, grossed over $274m (£166.6) worldwide.
It is unknown how Travolta or Norris will fit into the story, but the former playing a villain is a pretty safe bet.
Travolta has appeared in action films Face/Off and Broken Arrow for director John Woo and appeared as the chief villain in films such as Swordfish, The Punisher and the second remake of The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3.
Chuck Norris is most famous for his roles in ’80s action films Missing In Action and the Delta Force, as well as his lead in ’90s TV show, Walker Texas Ranger. In 2004, he cameoed in the comedy Dodgeball, as himself.
The Expendables 2 is due for release in the UK on August 17 2012.
