John Travolta travelled from Los Angeles to New York for a private meeting with the widow of John Gotti.
The Pulp Fiction star is lined up to play the Mafia boss in a forthcoming biopic, produced by Gotti’s son John Jr, but wanted to arrange a sit-down meeting with Victoria Gotti for further approval.
The meeting took place in Gotti’s Queens residence, where the late crime boss lived while running the Gambino crime family prior to being jailed in 1992. Gotti died in prison in 2002.
Travolta arrived with a gold gift bag for his meeting with the mob matriarch and other key players involved in the movie. He was in turn greeted with handshakes and hugs from Junior and several other men.
The meeting lasted more than two hours, according to the New York Post,
Travolta had no comment other than to say that he was at the home doing “research for the movie.”
Shooting on Gotti: In the Shadow of My Father, which will be directed by Oscar-winner Barry Levinson, begins in January.
Travolta’s wife Kelly Preston is set to play the elder Victoria, while Ben Foster will play Junior. Al Pacino, Lindsay Lohan and Chazz Palminteri are also lined up for large roles.
