Johnny Depp to star in the new ‘Fantastic Beasts’ movie

He'll be making a cameo before a much larger role

Johnny Depp has been revealed to appear in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them film as well as the sequel.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean and Fear And Loathing is indeed now a member of the Harry Potter universe for the spin-off series, playing a cameo in the upcoming film, before his character develops into a much larger and more significant role in the 2018 follow-up – claims The Hollywood Reporter. The details of Depp’s character in the movie remain a secret.

Due for release on 18 November, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them stars Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander in JK Rowling’s tale of a wizard who travels to New York to study magical animals, before his own escape and chaos ensues. The film also stars the likes of  Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Colin Farrell, Jon Voight, and Carmen Ejogo.

Rowling recently revealed that the novella will be developed into films. Defending the decision, she said: “I think, when you realise what story we’re really telling, you’ll understand that it can’t possibly fit in one movie!”

She added: “There’s a natural arc to five. You’ll see.”

Meanwhile, Colin Farrell revealed that he’d never seen a single Harry Potter film before joining the cast.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them hits cinemas worldwide on 18 November.
