Johnny Depp rejects Amber Heard alimony in divorce papers

The couple got married 15 months ago

Johnny Depp has reportedly rejected Amber Heard‘s request for spousal support.

Heard filed for divorce earlier this week just 15 months after the couple got married in February 2015.

Court records filed on Monday saw Heard cite “irreconcilable differences”. It’s believed Depp and Heard did not have a pre-nuptial agreement.

The Danish Girl star Heard had sought for alimony but now Depp lawyer’s has asked the judge to deny her request according to court documents obtained by The Associated Press. Depp has also requested that Heard pay her own legal fees.

The pair met when they starred in the Bruce Robinson-directed film The Rum Diaries.

News of the divorce comes a week after Depp’s mother Betty Sue Palmer died aged 81 on May 20 following a long illness.

They got legally married in Los Angeles in a private ceremony in February 2015, before having a public wedding with guests on a private island in the Bahamas days later.

Speaking about their relationship to Elle in June 2015, Heard said that “nothing much had changed” since the couple got married, adding: “I fall in love again and again.”

Depp and Heard recently hit the headlines when the couple tried to illegally bring their dogs into Australia.

To avoid a conviction, the couple were forced to film an awkward-looking video apologising for their actions, after Australian deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce threatened to have the dogs put down unless Depp and Heard “buggered off back to America”.
