Joseph Gordon-Levitt to play Batman in new movie?

He's apparently set to play the caped crusader in Warner Bros' 'Justice League' movie

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is apparently set to play Batman in the new superhero ensemble movie from Warner Bros.

Back in June (2012), Warner Bros announced plans to unite Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern in a Justice League movie based on the comic book series of the same name. The studio is aiming for a release some time in 2015 – the same year as The Avengers 2.

According to film website HitFix, Gordon-Levitt “absolutely will be appearing in Justice League as the new Batman”. The website also speculates that Gordon-Levitt’s Batman could cameo in next year’s Man Of Steel, the new Superman movie starring Henry Cavill.

In this year’s The Dark Knight Rises, Gordon-Levitt appears as a young police offer called John Blake alongside Christian Bale‘s Bruce Wayne aka Batman. At the end of the film, Blake is led into the Batcave by Wayne, suggesting that he could be about to assume the Batman role.

However, Gordon Levitt has yet to sign up officially and no other casting decisions have been made. Justice League currently has no director either, although Will Beall has been hired to write the script. Beall penned new Ryan Gosling movie Gangster Squad and is also working on the screenplay for the planned Lethal Weapon reboot.
