Julia Stiles returning to ‘The Bourne Identity’ franchise

Stiles will reprise role as Nicky Parsons opposite Matt Damon

Julia Stiles has signed on to appear in the fourth installment of The Bourne Identity franchise, reprising her role as covert agent Nicky Parsons.

The film move will see Stiles star alongside Matt Damon once again. Stiles appeared in the first three films but, like Damon and director Paul Greengrass, played no part in 2012 spin-off The Bourne Legacy.

Ex Machina actress Alicia Vikander was recently linked to the female lead in the fifth Bourne film. It remains to be seen whether Stiles’ return means this is no longer the case.

The film, currently untitled, will mark the return of Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne after nearly a decade away from the screen.

Director Greengrass, who was behind the camera for the second and third Bourne films, is also returning for the fifth instalment. For the first time, Greengrass and Damon will be writing the screenplay themselves, alongside Christopher Rouse, who served as editor on the second and third Bourne films.

The fifth Bourne film is set for release on July 29, 2016. The producer of the Bourne franchise, Frank Marshall, insisted earlier this year (2015) that there are no plans for Matt Damon and Jeremy Renner to appear together in the same film.
