‘Jurassic Park 4’ loses producer Kathleen Kennedy to ‘Star Wars’

The dinosaur sequel is set for release in June 2014 but still has no director

Producer Kathleen Kennedy is no longer involved with Jurassic Park 4.

Kennedy, who worked on the original 1993 Jurassic Park film and 2001’s Jurassic Park III, had been due to produce the new movie alongside Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall. However, Marshall – Kennedy’s husband as well as colleague – has now revealed that she has dropped out to concentrate on the new Star Wars trilogy.

Responding to a fan’s question on Twitter, he replied:

Last month (January 2013), Universal Pictures set a release date of June 14, 2014 for Jurassic Park 4. However, the film still has no director because Spielberg is serving solely as a producer this time out. Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, the screenwriting duo behind Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, are penning the screenplay.

The Jurassic Park films, based on a 1993 novel by Michael Crichton, have grossed a collective $1.9 billion (£1.2 billion) worldwide. Spielberg directed 1993’s Jurassic Park and its 1997 sequel The Lost World, but passed the baton to Joe Johnston for Jurassic Park III in 2001.
