Kanye West wanted for role in Spike Lee’s next film ‘Chiraq’

Samuel L Jackson, Jeremy Piven and Common are also in line for roles

Kanye West is reportedly “in talks” to appear in Spike Lee’s next film Chiraq.

According to TheWrap, Lee is making the film for Amazon Studios – the retailer’s Netflix rival – and hoping to cast Samuel L. Jackson, Common, West and Entourage star Jeremy Piven as part of its ensemble cast. Plot details are being kept under wraps but “Chiraq” is a nickname given to Chicago in recent years in reference to the city’s high rates of violent crime.

Both West and Piven are Chicago natives, while Jackson has worked with Lee on several of the director’s previous films including Oldboy, Do The Right Thing and Jungle Fever.

West’s previous acting roles include cameos in Entourage and last year’s Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. He is also due to shoot a cameo for Ben Stiller’s Zoolander 2, which is set for release on February 12, 2016.

Meanwhile, West is also set to executive produce the music for forthcoming slavery-themed US TV drama Underground. The 10-part series, due to air on US cable network WGN America in 2016, has been co-created by former Heroes writer Joe Pokaski and Sons Of Anarchy/Heroes writer Misha Green.
