Sequel rumoured to be titled 'Underworld: The Next Generation' will shoot in Prague this October
Kate Beckinsale has signed up to star in the fifth Underworld film.
The actress will reprise her role as vampire death dealer Selene in a sequel which is rumoured to be titled Underworld: The Next Generation. She will be joined by Theo James, who appeared briefly in the last Underworld film, 2012’s Underworld: Awakening.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, shooting will take place in Prague this October. Anna Foerster, who has directed episodes of TV shows including Criminal Minds and Outlander, and is also set to direct the forthcoming sequel to Source Code, will be behind the camera.
The film’s script has been written by Cory Goodman (Priest) and is understood to centre on a new crop of vampires and werewolves who are locked in perpetual combat with each other.
Beckinsale first played PVC-clad vampire Selene in 2003’s Underworld and reprised her role for 2006’s Underworld: Evolution and 2012’s Underworld: Awakening. She also narrated the 2009 prequel film Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.
Meanwhile, Beckinsale is also reuniting with her Last Days Of Disco co-star Chloë Sevigny and director Whit Stillman for Love & Friendship, a big screen adaptation of Jane Austen’s novella Lady Susan.
