Keanu Reeves on ‘Bill & Ted 3’: ‘We’re trying to put it together’

Reeves confirms that third movie featuring metalhead slacker double act is still in the works

Keanu Reeves has confirmed that Bill & Ted 3 is still in the works, saying: “We are trying to put it together.”

Released in 1989, Bill And Ted’s Excellent Adventure followed a pair of metalhead slackers – played by Reeves and Alex Winter – as they travelled through time in a phone booth. The pair reprised their popular roles for a 1991 sequel called Bill And Ted’s Bogus Journey.

Plans for a third movie featuring the duo were first confirmed publicly in 2010. In March of last year (2012) Reeves revealed that the film’s script was “done” and that July the project appeared to be moving forward by signing a director: RED 2‘s Dean Parisot. However, since then progress has apparently stalled and last month (September) Reeves made some cryptic comments about the sequel’s status, claiming “there’s darkness out there that’s keeping it from happening”.

Now Reeves has given a more encouraging update during a Reddit AMA. “We are working on trying to get Bill & Ted 3,” the actor wrote. “There’s a script and we are trying to put it together.”

Reeves’ co-star Alex Winter, who played Bill to his Ted, spoke fairly positively about the film in March of this year (2013), telling MTV News: “There’s no drama. There’s no legal skirmish… We built a story. They wrote a script. We’re tinkering with the script to get it perfect. Then we will go get the money. Then we will shoot it. And that’s really all there is to it.”
