Screen legend will play a dying secret agent to takes on one last mission to save his life
Kevin Costner has signed up to star in a new action thriller from Charlie’s Angels director McG.
The film has no official title yet, but was formerly known as Three Days To Kill. According to Variety, Costner will play a dying secret service agent who takes on one last mission in exchange for life-saving experimental drug treatment.
The script has been co-written by Luc Besson, the French film-maker behind The Fifth Element, with Adi Hasak. The pair previously collaborated on the screenplay for From Paris With Love, a 2010 action film starring John Travolta.
Costner, 57, is currently enjoying a career resurgence. He is set to play Clark Kent’s father Jonathan in new Superman movie Man Of Steel, due next June (2013), and will appear with Chris Pine in the upcoming Jack Ryan reboot, scheduled for the following December. Last month (September 2012), Costner won an Emmy for his role in TV mini-series Hatfields & McCoys.
The most recent film from director McG – real name Joseph McGinty Nichol – was This Means War, an action rom-com starring Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hardy and Chris Pine that came out in February (2012). His previous helming credits include Terminator Salvation and both Charlie’s Angels movies.
