Lady Gaga has revealed that she is “rooting” for Leonardo DiCaprio at tonight’s Academy Awards.
DiCaprio is hot favourite to take home this year’s Best Actor prize for his performance in epic western The Revenant. If he wins, it will be his first Oscar in six attempts after previously being nominated for his performances in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, The Aviator, Blood Diamond and The Wolf Of Wall Street. As a producer of The Wolf Of Wall Street, DiCaprio was also nominated in the Best Picture category, but the film lost out to 12 Years A Slave.
“Don’t know about u but I’m rooting for LEO! He’s blessed us w/ years of his storytelling, he deserves this! #1!!” Gaga wrote on Twitter earlier this evening.

DiCaprio appeared to pull a weird face when Lady Gaga walked past him at last month’s Golden Globe Awards, but later offered an explanation for what happened, saying: “Oh lord – that’s trending, huh? I just didn’t know what was passing me – that’s all!”

Gaga is due to perform her Oscar-nominated song ‘Til It Happens To You’ during tonight’s Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. The song, which Gaga co-wrote with Diane Warren, will compete for the Best Original Song prize against efforts by The Weeknd, Sam Smith, David Lang and Anohni.
Anohni, the musician formerly known as Antony Hegarty, has revealed that she will be not be attending the ceremony after the Academy failed to ask her to perform her nominated song on the night.
