LeBron James on ‘Space Jam 2’ rumours: ‘Maybe… we’ll have to wait and see’

Basketball star responds to rumours that he'll be stepping into Michael Jordan's shoes

Basketball star LeBron James has responded to rumours that he is set to star in a Space Jam sequel.

It was first reported last year that Warner Bros. was planning a belated sequel to its hit 1996 comedy, with James stepping into original star Michael Jordan’s shoes alongside a host of popular Looney Tunes characters. James’ representatives swiftly dismissed the report, but the basketball star has since spoken positively about the idea, saying: “I’ve always loved Space Jam. It was one of my favourite movies growing up. If I have the opportunity, it will be great.”

Now Space Jam 2 rumours are swirling again after James signed a major entertainment deal with Warner Bros on July 22. Asked about the rumours during a Twitter Q&A last night, James replied teasingly by telling a fan: “Maybe…….Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.”

James is currently earning rave reviews for his first significant acting role in Amy Schumer’s acclaimed comedy film Trainwreck, which was released in the US on July 17 and opens in the UK on August 14. James plays a fictionalised and surprisingly stingy version of himself, co-starring alongside Schumer, Tilda Swinton, Saturday Night Live‘s Bill Hader and 21 Jump Street‘s Brie Larson.
