She added: “The past 11½ years with Luke were the happiest years of my life, and I am grateful to have had that time with him.”

The statement also saw her praising Perry’s family for their support in the wake of his death.

“I also want to thank his children, family, and friends for their love and support,” she said.

“We have found comfort in one another and in the knowledge that our lives were touched by an extraordinary man. He will be dearly missed.”

This comes after Perry’s daughter Sophie paid tribute to her father on Instagram – and said she was “grateful for all the love”.

Tributes also came from Riverdale – in which Perry famously starred as Fred Andrews. The show immediately halted production after his death was confirmed, before featuring his name on an in memoriam segment at the end of the latest episode.

The Killers were also among those to pay tribute to the actor, after he appeared in the video for ‘¡Happy Birthday Guadalupe!’
