Mads Mikkelsen gives away his role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

The Hannibal actor's revelation also hints at a plot angle

Mads Mikkelsen has given away his role, and in doing so hinted at a plotline in Star Wars spin-off movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Speaking with Sky News, Mikkelsen revealed his character in the secretive movie, which in turn gives a little insight into one likely direction of the spin-off.

Mikkelsen told Sky that he was “a little scared by his role,” in part because it’s an unestablished character, so he didn’t really know what to expect, or how he would be dressed. He then revealed his role will be Jyn (Felicity Jones)’ character’s father.

Straight after his big reveal – which it appears Mikkelsen may not have been supposed to make – he refuses to comment on whether Darth Vader will feature in the spin-off.

The Danish actor had said earlier in the conversation “I can tell you absolutely nothing about it, or I’d have to kill you and the entire audience. But it’s the very first one, before anything you’ve ever seen in Star Wars.”

The first trailer for Rogue One was revealed earlier this month.

The film is due in cinemas on December 16 this year, and will be directed by Gareth Edwards. It represents the first in a series of Star Wars spin-off movies.
