Margot Robbie in talks to play Jane in ‘Tarzan’ film

Actress could join Samuel L Jackson and Christoph Waltz in project

Margot Robbie is in talks to play Jane in the forthcoming Tarzan reboot, according to reports.

The Wrap says that Robbie, who is currently starring in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf Of Wall Street alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill, is in negotiations to secure a role in the film. It was reported last September that she was in competition with Amazing Spider-Man actress Emma Stone for the part.

The project was given the green light in November last year and is expected to begin shooting this summer (2014). It will be directed by filmmaker David Yates, who helmed the last four installments in the Harry Potter franchise.

Django Unchained and Inglorious Basterds actor Christoph Waltz has also been linked with the project, as has Samuel L Jackson, while True Blood‘s Alexander Skarsgård will take on the title role.

Tarzan, a character created by American author Edward Rice Burroughs, last swung into cinemas in 1999 in an animated Disney movie. Over the years, he has been portrayed on screen by numerous actors, including Johnny Weissmuller, Christopher Lambert and Casper Van Dien.
