‘Suicide Squad’ spin-off is one of two films Robbie’s firm are making for Warner Bros
Suicide Squad actress Margot Robbie is making a spin-off movie about her character of Harley Quinn.
Talk that a spin-off Harley Quinn movie would happen had been rumoured in the weeks leading up to the release of Suicide Squad following the success of Robbie’s portrayal.
That has now been confirmed, with Suicide Squad studio Warner Bros doing a deal with Robbie’s production firm LuckyChap Entertainment for two films including a Harley Quinn spin-off.
There is no news yet as to when the film will appear, or which other characters will be involved. It’s thought that Robbie will still play Quinn in a sequel to Suicide Squad, as well as starring in and being the Executive Producer of the standalone movie.
The other film LuckyChap Entertainment have signed on for with Warner Bros is an adaptation of Queen Of The Air, the 2013 book by Dean N Jensen.
Robbie will also star in the film, as 4ft 9ins trapeze artist Lillian Leitzel, who was one of the biggest entertainment stars of the early 20th century when she performed with Barnum & Bailey and Ringling Brothers’ circuses. Leitzel had a doomed love affair with fellow trapeze star Alfredo Codona, which led to both their deaths.
Robbie will next be seen in Goodbye Christopher Robin about AA Milne and how he came to create Winnie The Pooh.
