Chucky’s back! Watch the terrifying first trailer for the rebooted ‘Child’s Play’

We can't wait...

The first trailer has been unveiled for the Child’s Play reboot – and it’s terrifying.

Set for release this summer, the reboot of the 1988 original stars Gabriel Bateman as Andy Barclay, the lonely 13-year-old boy who comes into possession of Chucky – a murderous doll.

In the first trailer, it’s clear that the film has been given a modern twist, with Chucky appearing to be an out-of-control robot. In contrast, the original portrayed Chucky as a possessed murderous toy.

The clip also provides us with our first look at Aubrey Plaza as Andy’s mother and the briefest snippet of Mark Hamill’s voice talents as the murderous doll.

The full trailer comes after Hamill veteran Star Wars actor posted the first full look at the revamped character on Twitter.

“He’s more than a toy… He’s your best friend! Your first full look at Chucky is here. Don’t miss @ChildsPlayMovie, in theaters June 21st. ??? #ChildsPlayMovie #TimeToPlay,” Hamill wrote.

Last month, Hamill posted a video message in which he said he “can’t wait to bring such an iconic character to life.” The Lars Klevberg-directed film is released in the US on June 21, 2019 but is yet to have a UK release date.
