Oscar-winning 'Bridge Of Spies' actor says he wants to play "Jane Bond"
Oscar-winning actor Mark Rylance has said he wants to play a female James Bond.
According to bookmakers, Poldark‘s Aidan Turner, Tom Hiddleston and Damian Lewis are front-runners to take over from Daniel Craig in the next Bond film, with Idris Elba, Tom Hardy and Jamie Bell in close contention too.
Asked whether he would ever consider talking on the iconic role, Bridge Of Spies and Wolf Hall actor Rylance told the Daily Mail: “Only if it’s Jane Bond. If they decide to have a woman, then I’ll go up for that.”
Earlier this year, Gillian Anderson was mooted as a potential “Jane Bond” when a fan mocked up a poster of the X-Files actress as 007 and she tweeted it to her followers.
Bookmakers place Game Of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke as the leading female contender to play Bond, but she remains an outside bet at 50/1. Megan Fox and Anderson are both at 66/1, with Keira Knightley a little way behind at 100/1.
Meanwhile, Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn has hinted at the reasons behind his decision to turn down the last Bond film, 2015’s Spectre.
