It's officially happening...
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have begun work on Bad Boys 3, some 15 years after the last instalment of the explosive action films was released.
The anticipated sequel, which sees Smith and Lawrence reprise their roles as Detectives Mike Lowry and Marcus Burnett, is set for release in 2020 after the project spend over a decade in development hell.
Now, the pair have both marked the beginning of production with an Instagram post that subtly teased what’s to come.
“Day 1. I’ll keep y’all posted,” Smith wrote – alongside a pile of scripts titled Bad Boys for Lif3. Lawrence later followed by posting one of the franchise’s most iconic shots – which sees him and Smith in the middle of the action.
“Let’s get to work! #teammartymar #badboysforlife#hustlehard,” he wrote.
The latest development comes after Smith officially confirmed the thre sequel in November 2018.
In a video shared by Smith on Facebook, both him and Lawrence tell viewers that the new movie, is going to happen.
“I’m telling y’all…this is crazy, wait, wait, just wait..it’s official!” Smith yells in the video with Lawrence by his side. “That’s it, no more, ya’ll can’t handle no more of that!”
Michael Bay helmed the first two films, while Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (Snowfall) are directing the new film.
