The first trailer for Marvel’s Doctor Strange has been released online.
The film will hit cinemas later this year and a two-minute preview can be seen below. The clip shows Cumberbatch’s character, a surgeon by profession, coming to terms with his powers and also encountering the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton).
The “Ancient One” character has always been a male in Marvel’s Doctor Strange comic books, but the film’s producers have decided to make the character female for the film.
As well as seeing Cumberbatch thrown across the room by Swinton, the trailer also offers a brief glimpse of fellow Doctor Strange’s fellow apprentice Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor). Other confirmed cast members, including Rachel McAdams and Mads Mikkelsen, also crop up in the clip.
Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Deliver Us From Evil) is directing from a script by John Spaihts (Prometheus). Marvel has scheduled the film for release on November 4.
Doctor Strange will be the next Marvel film to arrive in cinemas after Captain America: Civil War launches in May.
