Matthew Broderick was unsure of Ferris Bueller return

'I guess I'm part of a virus,' says actor

Matthew Broderick has admitted he was unsure about resurrecting Ferris Bueller for a new Super Bowl advert.

The actor sends up his character from the iconic 80s comedy Ferris Bueller’s Day Off in a commercial for Honda’s new CR-V, due to broadcast during the Super Bowl this Sunday (February 5). You can watch a leaked version below.

But now he has admitted that he was far from certain about a return to the role that made his name. he told New York Magazine:

It took a little, uh, thinking about it, took a little time, but I ended up thinking it might be amusing. Todd Phillips was directing it, who’s a good director, and I thought it would be fun to send up Ferris Bueller a little bit… I guess I’m part of a virus.

The clip sees an adult Broderick recreate the storyline from the classic movie, feigning illness to get out of work.

Sunday’s Super Bowl will also feature an extended preview of The Avengers, while Madonna will debut her new single ‘Gimme All Your Luvin”.
