Metallica’s 3D movie gets title and release date

Titled 'Metallica - Through The Never', it's an unusual hybrid of concert movie and fiction

Exciting new details about Metallica‘s 3D movie have emerged.

Titled Metallica – Through The Never, it will be an unusual hybrid of concert movie and fictional feature film. Actor Dane DeHaan, best known for Chronicle, plays a crew member who gets given an urgent mission during a gig – with life-changing results.

Metallica confirmed that they were working on a 3D movie project back in January 2012, but gave away little else at the time. The film was written and directed by Nimr√≥d Antal, whose previous credits include 2010’s Predators.

Bob Berney, president of distributors Picturehouse, told The Wrap: “Nim and the band have made a film that really captures the spirit of Metallica and their millions of loyal fans. It’s an entertaining genre film with a concert inside it, a fun ride featuring an exciting young actor, Dane DeHaan.”

Metallica – Through The Never will open in US cinemas on August 9, before becoming available on Netflix shortly afterwards. UK release details have yet to be confirmed.
