Morgan Freeman to star in ‘Lego’ movie

And the animated 3D film will reportedly include a Lego version of Batman

Morgan Freeman is to lend his voice to a new Lego movie.

The animated 3D film, which is being made by Warner Bros, has the rumoured title Lego: The Piece Of Resistance. It already has a scheduled release date of February 28, 2014.

According to Deadline, the movie’s voice cast will also include The Hunger Games actress Elizabeth Banks and Chris Pratt from Parks And Recreation. Freeman has been cast as a character called Vitruvius, while Arrested Development star Will Arnett will reportedly play a Lego version of Batman.

The film’s plot is listed on IMDB as follows: “An ordinary Lego mini-figure, mistakenly thought to be the extraordinary MasterBuilder, is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil Lego tyrant from gluing the universe together.”

The Lego movie is being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who previously made Channing Tatum comedy 21 Jump Street, which was released earlier this year (2012). Tatum has also been linked to their new project, reportedly as a Lego version of Superman.

Oscar-winning Freeman, 75, was seen most recently in this summer’s The Dark Knight Rises. He appears throughout Christopher Nolan‘s Batman trilogy as Lucius Fox, Bruce Wayne’s armorer and the President of Wayne Enterprises.
