The latest take on the folklore legend hits cinemas later this year
A new trailer for Robin Hood has been released.
The new movie stars Taron Egerton as the titular hero, following in the footsteps of the likes of Russell Crowe and Kevin Costner, who both played the character in 2010 and 1991 respectively.
Jamie Foxx will appear alongside Egerton as Little John, now the leader of the Merry Men. Tim Minchin will play Friar Tuck, while Fifty Shades‘ Jamie Dornan will take on the role of Will Scarlet, who is married to Maid Marian, played by Eve Hewson.
According to an official synopsis, Robin Hood and Little John “mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance.” Watch the latest trailer above.
Robin Hood is directed by Otto Bathurst (Peaky Blinders, Black Mirror) and will arrive in cinemas on November 21, 2018.
The film is just one of many Robin Hood reboots that are reportedly in the works. Margot Robbie is set to appear in a new movie about Maid Marian, while DreamWorks have been working on a “re-imagining” of the classic story since 2013. Warner Bros also have an untitled Robin Hood project on the go.
Some more left-field takes on the story are also said to be coming to cinemas. Robin Hood 2058 is described as following a “rogue MI5 agent on a mission to avenge injustice” in dystopian London, and Robin Hood And The Prince Of Aragon is said to be a low budget “vibrant punk-pop retelling of the mythos.”
