New on-set pictures emerge of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker in a cemetery

JustJared got its hands on some new pics...

New photos have emerged from the set of Joker that show Joaquin Phoenix in a red suit stood next to gravestones.

Phoenix plays the titular character in the forthcoming movie. The film is centred on how the popular DC comic book villain, whose full name is Arthur Fleck, came to be. It’s said to drop viewers into the time of Fleck’s life as a failed comedian.

Joining Phoenix is a star-studded cast including Robert De Niro, Marc Maron, Brett Cullen, Frances Conroy, and Zazie Beetz.

DeNiro stars as a talk show host who plays an instrumental role in the Joker’s development while Beetz takes on the role of a single mother who becomes mysteriously involved with Fleck.

Other recent photos include Phoenix dressed as the Joker while sprinting in New York City.

Filming for Joker began in the city in September. Several other photos have been leaked from the set but official material has been released including director Todd Phillips’ screen-test clip of Phoenix in the Joker’s full make-up.

Screenrant has made some observations about the latest photos. “No other character is seen in the images, which means that it’s not a funeral but a mere visit from Fleck.

“The fact that he’s wearing a maroon three-piece suit that isn’t suitable attire for a burial backs up the notion that its nothing more than a random visit.”

Joker is set for release on October 4 2019.
