A new trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness has been released. Scroll down and click ‘play’ to watch it.
The two-minute teaser features an ominous voiceover from Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the film’s mysterious villain. “None of you are safe,” he warns, before adding later in the trailer: “I will walk over your cold corpses.”
Back in December (2012), director JJ Abrams shed some light on Cumberbatch’s character, saying: “His name is John Harrison and he is sort of an average. That is what makes him so scary – he is just an average guy who works in an organisation called Starfleet, and he turns against the group because he has got this back-story and this kind of amazing secret agenda.”
Exact plot details are being kept under wraps but the first nine minutes of Star Trek Into Darkness have been shown before IMAX screenings of The Hobbit. Click here for NME’s rundown of everything we know about the film so far.
Alongside Cumberbatch, Star Trek Into Darkness reunites the Enterprise crew from Abrams’ acclaimed 2009 reboot Star Trek, including Chris Pine‘s Captain Kirk, Zachary Quinto’s Spock and Simon Pegg’s Scotty. The film’s release date has recently been moved forward and it will now arrive in UK cinemas on May 9 – eight days earlier than originally planned.
