Film follows the last two years of the late Princess of Wales's life
A new, longer trailer for Diana starring Naomi Watts has been released. Scroll down and click ‘play’ to watch it.
It’s a bit misleading to call the film a “biopic” because it only follows the last two years of Diana, Princess of Wales‘s life. The script by British playwright Stephen Jeffreys focuses on her famous campaign against land mines and her relationship with heart surgeon Dr Hasnat Khan, described by some of the late Princess’s friends as the “love of her life”.
Lost actor Naveen Andrews co-stars as Khan, while the supporting cast features a troupe of British thesps including Juliet Stevenson, Douglas Hodge, Geraldine James and Art Malik.
Diana was directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, whose previous credits include 2004’s Downfall, a film about the last days of Adolf Hitler.
Diana will have its world premiere in London on September 5 before opening at cinemas nationwide on September 20. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the British royal family have yet to make any kind of comment about the film.
