Starring Henry Cavill as Superman, the film flies into cinemas on June 14

The trailer features a warning from Michael Shannon‘s villainous General Zod – delivered to both Kal-El aka Superman and the whole of the human race. “For those of you who know his location, the fate of your planet rests in your hands,” Zod says coolly. “To Kal-El, I say this: surrender in 24 hours or watch this world suffer the consequences.”
Man Of Steel opens in cinemas on June 14. British actor Henry Cavill stars as Superman alongside Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Russell Crowe as his biological father Jor-El. Kevin Costner and Diane Lane appear as his adoptive parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent.
Man Of Steel was directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300) from a script by David S Goyer, whose previous screenwriting credits include Batman Begins and the Blade films. The Dark Knight trilogy’s Christopher Nolan collaborated with Goyer on the film’s story and also served as a producer.
However, Goyer has recently insisted that Man Of Steel will have a very different tone to Nolan’s Batman films. “Relatable and realistic doesn’t necessarily mean dark,” he explained. “I think it would be inappropriate for us to approach a Superman film as if we were doing The Dark Knight. The Batman films are a lot more nihilistic; Superman has always been a story about hope.”
