New trailer for upcoming ‘Romeo And Juliet’ movie from ‘Downton Abbey’ creator – watch

It stars Hailee Steinfeld and Douglas Booth and looks more traditional than the Baz Luhrmann version

A new trailer has been released for the forthcoming Romeo And Juliet movie written by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes. Scroll down and click ‘play’ to watch it.

Judging from the two-and-a-half minute trailer, this adaptation promises to offer a more traditional take on Shakespeare’s classic story than Baz Luhrmann’s 1996 film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes.

Juliet is played by Hailee Steinfeld, best known for her break-out performance in the Coen Brothers’ True Grit. British actor Douglas Booth, who portrayed Boy George in a 2010 BBC2 biopic, co-stars as Romeo.

The film’s ensemble cast also includes Paul Giamatti (pictured above right), Damian Lewis, Stellan Skarsgard and Kodi Smit-McPhee, who’s recently landed a lead role in the sequel to Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes.

Director Carlo Carlei shot Romeo And Juliet at various locations in his native Italy last spring (2012). It’s set to open in UK cinemas on October 11.
