The sci-fi film stars Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman

A new TV spot for sci-fi film Oblivion has appeared online. Scroll down to watch the full video.

The TV spot shows Tom Cruise as one of the last remaining workmen stationed on a dying Earth to harvest the last of its resources before joining the rest of humanity. Everything Cruise knows about the alien war that destroyed his planet is turned upside down when he rescues an unknown woman from a crashed spacecraft and meets Morgan Freeman.

Joseph Kosinski, who made his directing debut with 2010’s TRON: Legacy, is directing the film, which is based on an original graphic novel by Kosinski and Arvid Nelson. The script was co-written by Kosinski, William Monahan (The Departed), Karl Gajdusek (Last Resort), and Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII).

Cruise’s most recent film was Jack Reacher (out now) while Morgan Freeman was last seen in the conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises.

Co-starring Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough and Melissa Leo Oblivion opens in the UK on 12 April 2013. French electronic band M83 are set to do the soundtrack to the film.
