Nicolas Cage may join ‘Expendables 2’

Jean-Claude Van Damme confirmed for action sequel

Sylvester Stallone has named Nicolas Cage as a potential cast member for The Expendables 2, as well as confirming the casting of Jean-Claude Van Damme.

The list of action stars for the sequel is growing longer everyday, with the first films director/star Stallone speaking to Entertainment Weekly:

We’ve got Chuck Norris and I think Nic Cage. We’re trying to work out different scenarios. A lot of it is scheduling. It’s not financial. It’s just that Bulgaria is definitely a jaunt. It’s a commitment, you know what I mean? Especially in the dead of winter.

Nicolas Cage starred in Con Air for Simon West, who has stepped into the director’s chair for The Expendables 2.

As well as mentioning the Oscar Winning Nicolas Cage and confirming Van Damme, Stallone also hinted at a possible role for Terminator and Aliens star, Michael Biehn:

I like using people that had a moment and then maybe have fallen on some hard times and give them another shot. So we’re always looking for actors like Michael Biehn and Michael Pare. I like those kinds of guys.

Last week, it was confirmed that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis would return for the sequel with more substantial roles.

The Expendables 2 is due for release in the UK on August 17, 2012.
