Shia LeBeouf has confirmed that the latest Transformers movie Dark of the Moon will most likely be his, and the director’s, last time playing with the ‘robots in disguise’. He also let on that the next film in the Indiana Jones series may be coming sooner than first thought.
In an interview during the MTV Movie awards he commented, “For sure, I’m not coming back to do another one. I don’t think Mike [Michael Bay] will either.”
Talking about the future of the franchise itself he said, “It still is a hot property, I think, especially coming out of the third one. So I imagine they’ll reboot it at some point with someone else.”
The second movie – Revenge of the Fallen – was described by its maker as crap despite an $800m (£490m) worldwide haul. LeBeouf also said that it “sucked” – so fans of the franchise will be pleased to hear the convoluted nature of the the first sequel is gone.
“It’s the best action, in terms of the geography. In the second one, you get confused as to who’s fighting who and where you are, because it’s such a big landscape,” Shia said. “This one is ‘Black Hawk Down‘-ish. It’s one location, and the geography is simple to understand.”
On the subject of a potential fifth Indiana Jones film, LeBeouf stated: “I talked to Harrison [Ford]. He said he’s staying in the gym, so it means, you know, it’s not so far off.”
The previous outing, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, was yet another film Shia publicly apologised for, stating that he and others had “dropped the ball”. Yet the third sequel also grossed a healthy $700m (£428m) worldwide.
Lead actress Megan Fox will not return for Dark of the Moon instead the part of the love interest will be played by British actress Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley.
