‘Now You See Me’ sequel in the works

Heist movie starring Jesse Eisenberg and Mark Ruffalo has been one of the summer's surprise hits

A sequel to Now You See Me, this summer’s heist movie starring Jesse Eisenberg and Mark Ruffalo, is now in the works.

The film, which centres on a posse of bank-robbing magicians, opened in US cinemas in May before getting a UK release last month (July). To date, it’s grossed around $255 million worldwide (£165 million) from an estimated $75 million (£48 million) budget, becoming one of the summer’s surprise box office hits.

Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer revealed on Friday (August 9) that the studio has started to develop a sequel, Variety reports, predicting that the film will eventually gross around $275 million (£177 million) worldwide.

Now You See Me‘s bumper cast also includes Woody Harrelson, Michael Caine, Isla Fisher and Morgan Freeman, who infamously fell asleep during a live TV interview to promote the movie.

It was directed by Louis Leterrier (Clash Of The Titans, The Incredible Hulk) with Star Trek Into Darkness/The Amazing Spider-Man 2 duo Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci among the producers. You can watch the film’s trailer below.
