Here are the nominations for the Oscars 2019

The ceremony will be held in LA on February 24

The nominations for the Oscars 2019 have been announced, with The Favourite and Roma both picking up 10 nominations each.

The 91st Academy Awards are due to be held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, LA on February 24. The ceremony is still without a host after comedian Kevin Hart withdrew from the role in December – it’s rumoured that the ceremony may now proceed without a host for the first time since 1989.

Today’s big nominations announcement (January 22) confirmed who exactly is in the running for the major film awards, with The Favourite and Roma‘s 10 nominations apiece being closely followed by numerous nods for A Star Is Born and Vice (eight nominations each) and seven for Black Panther.

Rami Malek has been nominated for Best Actor for his portrayal of the late Freddie Mercury in the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, with the movie also being recognised in the Best Picture category. Olivia Colman’s take on Anne, Queen of Great Britain in The Favourite has seen the former Peep Show star earning a nomination for Best Actress, with Colman up against Lady Gaga after the latter’s work in A Star Is Born was recognised by the Academy.

The Original Song category, meanwhile, sees both Kendrick Lamar and SZA‘s ‘All The Stars’ (from Black Panther) and the A Star Is Born song ‘Shallow’ (which was written by Gaga, Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt) up for the prize.
